Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues

The Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues :

• recommends to the Codex Alimentarius Commission, establishment of maximum limits for pesticide residues for specific food items, or in groups of food ,or in certain animal feeding stuffs moving in international trade where it is justified for reasons of protection of animal health ;
• prepares priority lists of pesticides for evaluation by the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues(JMPR);
• considers methods of sampling and analysis for the determination of pesticide residues in food and feed;
• considers other matters in relation to safety of food and feed containing pesticide residues; establishes maximum limits for environmental and industrial contaminants showing chemical or other similarity to pesticides, in specific food items or group of foods.
